Here you will find some of the common terms used by the police. Contrary to what you may think, it is not some super secret codewords (well some are). This list will be updated as needed (read as when I feel like it).

I cannot take credit for most of these, but will throw a shout out to all those other cops and their dispatchers around the world for providing colorful names to things that we see, hear or experience.

- Adam Charles - Radio slang for as Ass Clown.
- AOA - Assist other agency.
- Ass Clown - Any person who engages in criminal activity in a blatantly stupid manner or execution that all but guarantees they will be caught and arrested immediately. Also referred to as an "ass hat."
- Ass Clownery - Any verbal or physical acts that an "ass clown" or "ass hat" engages in that draws the often unwanted attention of law enforcement.
- Crap Magnet - An officer that always seems to have bad things happening around them or who draws more hot calls than everyone else.
- Dewey - Drunk driver or driving under the influence arrest.
- Donorcycle - Slang term for motorcycles, particularly those involved in fatal accidents.
- D.R.T. - Dead Right There.
- DWHUA - Driving with head up ass.
- Electric Shuffle - The impromptu movements one makes while being tasered. Also referred to as Riding the Lightning, Doing the Funky Chicken and The Edison Slide.
- EOW - End of watch.
- Felony Flats - Any apartment complex, duplex or multiple unit residential area that draws the unsavory elements of society or that requires an unusually high amount of law enforcement responses. Commonly interchanged with Misdemeanor Manor.
- FNG - F***ing New Guy. Also known as a Rookie.
- Hanging Paper - Issuing a citation.
- Head Shed - The administration of an agency.
- Hooptie - An older automobile in a state of disrepair. Sometimes referred to as a Ghetto Cruiser.
- Hose Monkey - A term of endearment for those brave and selfless souls who fill the ranks of the Fire Department.
- Jack Wagon - Any loud or annoying idiot or moron.
- Johnny Cochran - A wannabe lawyer with a profoundly sad exhibition of poor legal knowledge and/or advice.
- K9 - A police working dog, generally trained in both narcotics & patrol work. Sometimes referred to as a Land Shark.
- Lawn Ornament - An intoxicated subject found unconscious in a yard.
- Meth Monkey - A heavy user of methamphetamine, easily recognized by the physical look and mannerisms that they display.
- Misdemeanor Manor - Any multiple housing unit that has a high frequency of responses by law enforcement for relatively minor crimes such has petty larceny, noise or alcohol related complaints. Commonly interchanged with Felony Flats.
- Mope - Slang for those unsavory characters that seem to frequent every village, town and city providing a ready supply of work for the police. Commonly interchanged with Mutt.
- Mopery - The generally unbelievable & asinine acts or behaviors performed by a Mutt or Mope. Depending on the severity of the acts or behavior can also be referred to as Aggravated Mopery.
- Mutt - Slang for your run-of-the-mill street criminal. Commonly interchanged with Mope.
- Ostrich - Any person who willfully or ignorantly ignores the responsibility of their friends or relatives for the crimes they commit and instead blames anyway or anything other than their friends or relatives.
- Rookie - A new hired officer. Also referred to as a FNG.
- SIT (Self-Important Turd) - This one of those ass clowns who thinks that their feces doesn't stink. In fact they have such a high opinion of themselves or their perceived place in society that their natural assumption is too assume everyone else will bow to their will.
- Tour of Duty - Scheduled work shift.
- Tweaker - A methamphetamine user.
- Urban Outdoorsman - A transient or homeless person.
- UTL - Unable to locate.
- Yard Bird - 1. A prisoner or inmate at a jail or correctional facility. 2. A suspect that comes out of nowhere that was hiding in the bushes of a yard.
